Steps to Prepare Spaghetti Aglio With Green Peas

steps to prepare spaghetti aglio with green peas

Italian spaghetti is cooked in many different styles. The base is the same, including Olive oil, garlic, peas, and spaghetti. I also love adding red pepper flakes, yet my all-time favorite is the cooked green peas. I always prepare the peas in my freezer because I can’t resist repeatedly making this recipe. It’s light, filling, and so full of taste.

Let’s talk about the steps of cooking this pasta and peas recipe.

    1. Boil The Spaghetti

The first to begin with the spaghetti Aglio with green peas recipe is to boil your spaghetti in a wide pot. Now, remember to add salt to the water before you boil it to add flavor to the noodles.

Once the water on the stove is bubbly, add spaghetti and let it cook until the spaghetti gets firm.

    2. Drain Spaghetti

When the spaghetti is well cooked, reserve ½ cup of the pot’s pasta water. Now, drain spaghetti.

    3. Stir Fry Garlic and Red Pepper Flakes

As pasta cooks, in the meanwhile, put Olive oil in a large skillet and heat it over low flame. Add garlic with red pepper flakes to cook until these two ingredients become fragrant. This will take about 1 to 2 minutes.

Note: Do NOT let garlic brown.

    4. Combine and Cook all Ingredients

Add spaghetti you drained a while ago. Toss the spaghetti in the spiced garlic oil. Now add green peas and noodles (pasta) water you reserved earlier. Continue cooking all combined ingredients over medium flame until well cooked. Also, note that the pasta has absorbed the water well.

    5. Sprinkle the Cheese

Sprinkle the grated Parmigiano cheese and finely cut parsley over the pasta, stir well, and our spaghetti Aglio with green peas is ready to serve hot. Oh, so yum!

    Cooking Tips:

cooking tips for spaghetti aglio with green peas

    • Remember we saved half a cup of spaghetti water? This hero ingredient brings all the magic to the meal giving rich pasta flavor to the dish.
    • Once you add the pasta water to the skillet, you must cook the spaghetti until it catches a firm texture. At this time, you will observe that spaghetti has absorbed the water well. The Olive oil and garlic sauce will make it more flavorful and creamy for a mouth-watering taste.
    • Before boiling the spaghetti, always salt the cooking water. If you forget to add salt to the water, that spaghetti will be tasteless and require more salt later. This will be health damaging too.
    • Boil the pasta for 1 to 2 minutes, less than the minimum time mentioned on the pasta packaging.
    • Frozen green peas will give the best results and are also more cost-effective for your cooking budget.
    • Try to include Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese, as stated above. This ingredient only will add a nutty flavor. But if you don’t have it, you can replace it with parmesan cheese.
    • Make sure to use the best Olive oil available.

Adding Variations to the Spaghetti Aglio With Green Peas Recipe

If you enjoy cooking and often like to use different variations in your recipes, you will find it more fun to use them while cooking this pasta. We are all free to use our creativity in any task that we do. Cooking, in particular, has a wide scope of making nicer and tastier substitutions every time we make a dish.

In the case of spaghetti Aglio , I like to add asparagus tips, sun-dried tomatoes, crumbled bacon, fresh herbs, diced and cooked pancetta, or crushed garlic croutons. Some people find it tastier with tasty walnut toppings that are really mind-blowing in flavor. Green peas are my favorite addition to this midnight spaghetti recipe.

You can also re-invent your recipe by adding some other vegetables like broccoli. It grabs the oil and garlic on pasta and the cheese addition makes them all taste amazing together. However, if you are more carb-conscious, also try our 13 Perfect 2B Mindset Dinner Recipes.
